‘Bricolinie (ostralage)’ redefines the meaning and purpose of the materials. Pills, and the blister cases they come in, express medical intervention. While large quantities of these blister packs cannot help but infer dire circumstances, addiction and infirmity, this artwork defamiliarises these materials, forming them into gentle, non-threatening curves.

Many of my recent works start out as scientific dissection but then transform into a sort of serendipitous discovery! I assumed that these blister packs were just plain and transparent but as I cut them up and stuck them down I realised that some of the smaller ones were slightly golden. I think they’re becoming even more golden as time goes on…
